BS 476-7 is a test method for determining the surface extension level of flames in the UK fire test standard for building materials and structures.
Product range required by the standard:
BS 476-7 fire test is applicable to various types of building materials and products, including walls, ceilings, floors, partitions, doors, window frames, insulation materials, etc. It is mainly used to determine the flame extension of exposed surfaces of building materials such as walls, insulation materials, ceilings, etc.
Common test materials include:
Glass fiberglass, plastic parts, display screens, wall panels, various types of panels, rock wool, foam, etc.
Note: There was a fire in the display screen in Hong Kong before, so the display screens to be sold to Hong Kong are required to undergo BS476-7 fire test.
How is BS 476-7 tested?
The test steps are as follows:
1) Ignite the pilot flame
2) Within 5 seconds, swing the sample clamp and put it in the test position, and then immediately start the timing mechanism, that is, start the test.
3) Extinguish the pilot flame within one minute after the test starts.
4) The test shall be stopped when the flame head reaches the 825 mm reference line, or after 10 minutes, whichever is shorter.
