UPE rod (white) : English name Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (also known as UHMW-PE), is a thermoplastic engineering plastic with a molecular weight of more than 1.5 million. The molecular chain length is 10-20 times that of high-density polyethylene. The main advantages of the longer molecular chain (higher molecular weight) are toughness, wear resistance and stress cracking resistance. Because it is a kind of polyethylene, UHMWPE also has excellent lubrication, chemical resistance and electrical properties of general HDPE. Its successful development is widely regarded as one of the top ten scientific and technological achievements of the 20th century.
Product Features:
Excellent wear resistance, good low temperature impact resistance, self-lubricity, non-toxic, water resistance, chemical resistance, heat resistance is better than general PE, the disadvantage is low heat resistance (thermal deformation temperature), poor processing molding, external surface hardness, rigidity, creep resistance is not as good as general engineering plastics, and the expansion coefficient is relatively large. UHMWPE has poor fluidity and high viscosity in molten state. It is a rubbery high viscous elastomer. In the early stage, it can only be formed by pressing and sintering methods, but it can also be processed by extrusion, injection molding and blow molding methods.
The mechanical properties are higher than the general high-density polyethylene. It has outstanding impact resistance, stress cracking resistance, high temperature creep resistance, low friction coefficient, self-lubricity, excellent chemical corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, noise damping, nuclear radiation resistance, etc.
Use temperature 100 ~ 110℃. Good cold resistance, can be used at -269℃. The product with density of 0.935g/cm3 and molecular weight of 2 million has tensile strength at break of 40MPa, elongation at break of 350%, flexural elastic modulus of 600MPa, and continuous impact of cantilever notch. Wear (MPC method)20mm.
Application Areas:
UPE sticks can replace carbon steel, stainless steel, bronze and other materials for textile, paper making, food machinery, transportation, medical, coal mine, chemical and other sectors. Such as textile industry technology shuttle, shuttle rod, gear, coupling, sweeping rod, buffer block, eccentric block, rod shaft sleeve, swing consequences and other impact wear resistant parts. In paper industry, box cover plate, water scraper plate, compaction parts, joints, sealing shaft rod of transmission machinery, partial guide wheel, scraper, filter, etc. The lining of hopper, bin and chute for powdery materials in the transportation industry.
UPE rod can do all kinds of mechanical parts, including food machinery gear, worm gear, worm, bearing. Chemical pump, valve, plate, filter plate. Medically, it can also be used for heart valves, short surgical parts, artificial joints and birth control implants. Sports do skating floor, ground track, snowboard, motor sled parts.
The application range is similar to polyamide and PTFE, and the wear resistance is more than carbon steel. It can be used as gear, bearing, bearing bush, star wheel, valve, pump, guide rail, sealing packing, equipment lining, sliding plate, artificial joint, and fiber is used as body armor and rope.
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene has many excellent properties, however, such excellent engineering plastics are few people know its existence, which is mainly due to the lack of research on the melt characteristics of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene in the past, and the processing method is basically still on the backward pressing and sintering process. In recent years, with the continuous development of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene processing technology, its products have been successfully applied in many fields.
