Sediment Samplers description
The Ekman bottom corer is based on the Ekman design. The sediment sampler is made of AISI 316 stainless steel.
To be deployed by means of a steel wire, recommended diameter 5 mm.
Sediment Samplers use suggestion
For higher performance the grab is configurable with extra lead weights, up to 16 pcs each 5 kg.
The Ekman grab has an automatic release system, once the grab hits the sea bed and the wire slackens, the lock system is deactivated. Retrieving the grab takes the sample.
The sampler comes with a security wire which must be attached to the deployment wire. If the grab gets stuck; i.e. by a stone on the seabed the thin wires located at each side of the top part may break, and you will loose the bottom part of the sampler.
