Veress needle is a sterile disposable medical device used to establish pneumoperitoneum during surgical procedures, which can help doctors create a certain abdominal space for better operation.
Function
Suitable for the process of establishing pneumoperitoneum in various surgical procedures, such as laparoscopic surgery.
Composition
Its main components are the handle and Veress needle. The Veress needle consists of two components: a sharp, bevelled outer needle with an outer diameter of 2mm; and an inner, blunt-tipped, spring-loaded stylet with a side hole. This design allows introduction of the needle through the fascia, with the inner spring-loaded stylet being pushed back into the outer cannula and then recoiling to offer protection to the intraperitoneal organs after penetration of the peritoneum and loss of resistance.
