Burnishing is a chipless machining method which cold works the metal without cutting or abrading the surface.
It removes no metal but rather compresses, or "irons-out" the peaks of a metal surface into the valleys, generating a dense and uniform surface.
Roller burnishing improves surface finish and results in dimensional accuracy.

Characteristics of rolling processing:
1. Hard alloy roller has long service life.
2. High rolling efficiency, high finish.
3. Can effectively improve the surface hardness of machined workpieces.
Rolling amount:
1. Rolling speed: V=100-200min (increase).
2. Feed quantity; S=0.1-0.2mm/rev (complete at one time).
3. Roll interference: 0.01mm9 single sided).
4. Actual press volume: 0.01-0.02MM.
Matters needing attention:
1. The center of the roller should be equal to the center of the workpiece axis.
2. Rolling surface and workpiece axis surface, rolling must be clean, no oil pollution.
3. Rolling must be completed at one time, repeated rolling will produce spots and peeling.
4. Rolling the small plane and parts of the shaft should be 1 degrees -15 degrees Cross (double axis intersection).
5. When lubricating and burnishing the liquid (Kerosene or engine oil is recommended) must be cleaned, and the burnishing effect will be better.
