Feldspar is an aluminosilicate mineral composed of potassium, sodium, calcium, barium and other alkali metals or alkaline earth metals. Its main components are SiO2, Al2O3, K2O, Na2O, CaO and so on. It is one of the important rock-forming minerals. According to its chemical composition, feldspar can be divided into:
(1) potassium feldspar (orthoclase), the molecular formula is K2O·Al2O3·6SiO2
(2) albite (caofeldspar), the molecular formula is Na2O·Al2O3·6SiO2
(3) calcium feldspar (grey feldspar), the molecular formula is CaO·Al2O3·2SiO2
(4) barium feldspar (heavy earth feldspar), the molecular formula is BaO·Al2O3·2SiO2
SiO2:67%, Al2O3:16%, P+S>0.05%, K2O+Na2O >13% (up to 18%)
In general, pure feldspar rarely exists in nature. Even in the mineral known as "potassium feldspar", there may be some albite associated with it or mixed with it. Generally the potassium feldspar powder and albite composition of feldspar minerals known as alkali feldspar; The feldspar mineral composed of albite and calcium feldspar is called plagioclase; The feldspar mineral composed of calcium feldspar and barium feldspar is called alkaline earth feldspar. Potassium micro plagioclase is a kind of potassium feldspar whose crystal system is triplagioclase. When albite is mixed in potassium feldspar in the form of regular arrangement, it is called striped feldspar.
