Specification
Silica sand, also known as silica or quartz sand, is a hard, wear-resistant, chemically stable silicate mineral whose main mineral component is SiO2.
The color of silica sand is milky white or colorless and translucent, and has high fire resistance.
Silica sand has a hardness of 7, is brittle without cleavage, has a shell-like fracture, and has an oily luster. Its relative density is 2.65. Its chemical, thermal and mechanical properties have obvious anisotropy. It is insoluble in acid, slightly soluble in KOH solution, and has a melting point of 1750°C.
It has the characteristics of thermal shock resistance, high hardness, high insulation, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, etc.
It is widely used in glass, casting, water treatment, ceramics and refractory materials, metallurgy, construction, chemical industry, plastics, rubber, abrasives, etc..
