Sodium sulfide, also known as smelly alkali, smelly soda, alkali sulfide, is an inorganic compound, the chemical formula is Na2S, the appearance of colorless crystalline powder, soluble in water, insoluble in ether, slightly soluble in ethanol. It burns when touched on skin and hair, so sodium sulfide is commonly known as alkali sulfide. When exposed to air, sodium sulfide emits toxic hydrogen sulfide gas that smells like rotten eggs. Industrial sodium sulfide due to impurities in its color is pink, brown red, earth yellow.

Application
