Povidone iodine(PVP-I) is an unstable complex complex formed by the complexation of surface active agent and iodine. It belongs to the iovidone class of external disinfectants. Under normal temperature, it is yellow brown to reddish brown amorphous powder, soluble in water or ethanol, insoluble in ether.
