This is a smart road marking system that provides more safety on the streets than the current horizontal signaling in urban roads, exponentially multiplying its effectiveness, as it replaces a passive signaling (reflective paint) for an active one (SLI).
This smart road marking technology is a lighting system which combines sensors and LED plates integrated into the asphalt, complemented with vertical LED signs.
Councils across the world have taken action against zombie phone addicts, installing pavement-level traffic-lights to prevent social media-addicted pedestrians absentmindedly wandering into the road.
"Look both ways before crossing" is one of the lessons that most of us receive as children. Crosswalks are everywhere, but they are not always sufficiently well lit. According to data from an old study by the Mapfre Foundation, around 15% of fatal accidents occur in pedestrian crossings.
Whether due to distractions or speeding, drivers slowing down further as they approach could reduce the number of accidents. To try to better alert these drivers, the "smart" pedestrian crossings arrive, a modification of the classic white lines of the zebra crossing where thanks to sensors, lighting with LED strips is generated when the pedestrian approaches.
