What is the difference between the seamless aluminum tube and the conventional aluminum tube extrusion process?

Seamless Aluminum tubes can be ordered in all available alloys. Using several different container sizes on our mandrel piercing extrusion presses, we cover a large spectrum of dimensions. Tubes having a smaller outside diameter or a thin wall are drawn to the final dimension. Please refer to the charts for our dimensional capability.
Another reason for the drawing of the tubes can be a requirement for very tight dimensional tolerances. For alloys whose strength is achieved by work hardening, we can offer the required temper by cold drawing to the final dimension. Do you want to form the tubes into a different shapes? By a carefully controlled sequence of drawings and heat treatments, we achieve a fine, uniform grain structure. With these tubes, you can reach maximum deformation in processes such as bending and shaping.
Sometimes the tubes or profiles are required in short fixed lengths rather than long or random lengths. This opportunity is provided by our associated sawing mill. Depending on the dimension of the tube we can offer various surface finishes. We can offer grinding, polishing, or honing, to bring the outside and inside surfaces to the desired quality.

Many of our products are used for Aerospace applications such as actuator rods, drive shafts, aircraft door and seating components, fluid systems (high and low pressure), and ejector seat frames to mention just a few. All of these applications are very demanding and are produced in several media (6xxx, 5xxx) and high-strength (2xxx, 7xxx) aluminium alloys. They are required to meet stringent Aerospace Material Specifications which include requirements for surface quality, dimensions and tolerances, mechanical properties, and in most cases, several special testing requirements (e.g. Eddy Current Testing, Electrical Conductivity Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, and Susceptibility to Corrosion Testing, etc.). The critical parameters of each manufacturing process are controlled and monitored for each order item produced. Many of the products require heat treatment in order to achieve their final properties. The heat treatment process is performed in accordance with the applicable material specification (e.g. AMS 2772) in ovens meeting the requirements of AMS2750.

According to the heating temperature of the billet, extrusion can be divided into hot extrusion and cold extrusion.
The hot extrusion is to heat the billet to the recrystallization temperature. The cold extrusion is extruded at room temperature.
7075-T6 Aluminum Tubing is a high-strength alloy with good resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Since its introduction, it has been the mainstay of the aviation industry. Aluminum 7075 brings moderate toughness and an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. It is also worth noting that the strength of the 7075 aluminum alloy increases at sub-zero temperatures.
Extruded Aluminum Alloy Pipe
Alloy Series: 7000 Series (Al-Zn-Mg-Cu Alloy)
This alloy has currently the highest strength and can replace carbon steel, widely used in military, and aerospace. Due to the oxidation of the surface having a breakthrough in recent years, it has been used by civilians.

- Temper: T3, T351, T4, T451, T6, T651, T6511, T7351

Alloy Series: 2000 Series (Al-Cu Alloy)
This alloy belongs to hard alloy. Has excellent mechanical properties and machinability, commonly used in aviation components, transport equipment, equipment components, and other structural materials.
- Typical Alloy: 2014, 2017, 2024
- Temper: T3, T351, T4, T451, T6, T651, T6511, T7351
- Features: Not good corrosion resistance, but high strength, excellent plasticity, widely used in structural materials.
- Applications: Military, mold, aircraft structure, Rivets, truck wheels, propeller components, and various other structural parts.
