1.2311 tool steel is a refined version of standard P20, developed for plastic molds that demand better polishability, improved toughness, and dimensional stability.
Compared to traditional P20, 1.2311 offers more uniform hardness and better machinability, especially for large-size mold components where performance consistency is critical.
The steel is delivered in a pre-hardened state (~HRC 30–33) and is ready for machining with no additional heat treatment required. It's widely used in automotive, electronics, and consumer plastic injection molds.
