Spray towers are environmental protection equipment that purify waste gas through gas-liquid contact. They are mainly used to treat acidic gases (such as SO₂, HCl), alkaline gases (such as NH₃), dust and organic pollutants in industrial waste gas. Its English names include:
Spray Tower
Scrubber (scrubber tower)
Spray Column (spray gas scrubber)
Core functions
Neutralization reaction : Neutralizing harmful components in waste gas by spraying acid or alkali solutions (such as treating acid mist with NaOH)
Dust removal and cooling : Remove particulate matter and lower the temperature of high-temperature flue gas (100-200 ° C)
Odor control : Absorb water-soluble malodorous substances (such as H₂S, VOCs)
Structure and composition
Tower body : Corrosion-resistant materials (fiberglass reinforced plastic, PP, stainless steel), vertical/horizontal design
Spray system : nozzles (spiral/solid cone), circulation pump and piping
Packing layer : Packing such as Pall rings to increase the gas-liquid contact area (specific surface area ≥200m²/m³)
Demister : Folded plate or wire mesh structure for separating droplets from purified gas
Working principle
Waste gas enters from the bottom of the tower and comes into countercurrent contact with the absorption liquid sprayed from the top in the packing layer. Pollutants are removed through absorption, reaction or sedimentation. The purified gas is dehydrated by a demister and then discharged.
