Corrosion inhibitor Sebacic acid CAS 111-20-6 Introduction:
Also known as benzyl o-hydroxybenzoate.
White crystal powder. It becomes a colorless liquid when the temperature is high. Slightly sweet aroma. Density 1.1799g/cm3 (20ºC). Melting point>24ºC. Boiling point: 170°C (0.67kPa). Refractive index 1.5805. Insoluble in water. Soluble in ethanol.
It is produced by the esterification reaction of salicylic acid and benzyl alcohol using sulfuric acid as catalyst.
Used as a fixative for cosmetics and soap flavors.
