PVC water pipes are commonly used water pipelines in construction, agriculture, and industry. Depending on the material properties and uses, they are mainly divided into the following types, each with its own advantages and application scenarios:
1、 PVC-U water pipe (rigid polyvinyl chloride pipe)
Full name: Unplasticized PVC
advantage:
High strength and rigidity: suitable for buried or pressure bearing scenarios.
Corrosion resistance: Strong resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, and chemicals in soil.
Low cost: economical and suitable for ordinary water transmission projects.
Hygiene and safety: comply with drinking water standards (must comply with GB/T 10002.1).
Application:
Municipal water supply and drainage, household water supply pipelines;
Agricultural irrigation and low-pressure water delivery system.
2、 PVC-M water pipe (impact resistant modified polyvinyl chloride pipe)
Full name: Modified PVC (impact resistant modified PVC)
advantage:
Strong impact resistance: Through toughening modification, it is resistant to external impact and suitable for complex geological conditions.
Good flexibility: can adapt to slight ground subsidence or vibration.
High pressure bearing capacity: Under the same wall thickness, the pressure bearing capacity is better than PVC-U.
Application:
Underground pipelines with poor geological conditions;
High impact resistant water conveyance projects are required.
3、 PVC-O water pipe (biaxially oriented polyvinyl chloride pipe)
Full name: Oriented PVC (biaxially oriented PVC)
advantage:
Strength: Through molecular biaxial stretching technology, the strength is more than twice that of PVC-U.
Lightweight: thinner wall thickness under the same pressure, saving materials.
Good fatigue resistance: suitable for scenarios with frequent start stop or pressure fluctuations.
Application:
High pressure water transmission system (such as municipal main pipelines);
Long distance water transmission project.
4、 CPVC water pipe (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride pipe)
Full name: Chlorinated PVC
advantage:
High temperature resistance: Long term use temperature can reach 90 ℃ (ordinary PVC is only 45 ℃).
Chemical corrosion resistance: It has stronger resistance to strong acids, strong bases, and organic solvents.
Flame retardancy: self extinguishing upon ignition, suitable for high temperature or fire-resistant scenarios.
Application:
Industrial hot water transportation (such as chemical plants, electroplating plants);
Fire sprinkler system;
High temperature liquid transportation pipeline.
5、 PVC-C water pipe (similar to CPVC, with different names in some countries)
The characteristics are basically the same as CPVC, commonly used in North America, with high temperature resistance and chemical resistance.
6、 Soft PVC water pipe
Features: Adding plasticizers makes the pipe soft and easy to bend.
advantage:
Strong flexibility: suitable for temporary water supply or complex wiring;
Easy installation: No need for complex connectors, can be transported in coils.
Disadvantages: Poor pressure and temperature resistance, and easy aging after long-term use.
Application:
Temporary irrigation, home gardening;
Low pressure drainage or ventilation ducts.
