The color of paper is an important indicator of its appearance, and the purpose of dyeing is to give paper different colors to meet the needs of customers. The dyeing process of paper can generally be divided into pulp dyeing and surface dyeing. In this paper, combined with our factory's production experience, we will focus on a brief introduction of in-slurry dyeing and the control of the dyeing process.
Dyes commonly used in pulp dyeing can be divided into direct dyes, basic dyes and acid dyes. When choosing dyes, the use of paper should be taken as the starting point, and the following influencing factors should be considered comprehensively.
1. Affinity with fibers. Some high-grade papers are not allowed to fade in water when they are used for the packaging of high-end products. Therefore, direct dyes with greater affinity with fibers must be selected, especially alkaline and acid dyes are not allowed to prevent color fading from contaminating the products.
2. The need for paper color. Basic dyes or some bright-colored direct dyes should be selected when dyeing some papers that require particularly bright colors. If necessary, some whitening agents can be added to improve the brightness of the paper.
3. For paper with high light fastness requirements, light-fast dyes or direct dyes can be selected, and basic dyes must not be selected, otherwise, the color will fade too quickly when exposed to light.
