- By structural form: It can be divided into closed sprinklers and open sprinklers. Closed sprinklers are equipped with a release mechanism, and the water spray nozzle is closed under normal conditions. Open sprinklers have no release mechanism, and the water spray nozzle is open.
- By thermal sensitive element: There are glass bulb sprinklers and fusible element sprinklers. When the glass bulb sprinkler is heated, the working liquid inside the bulb causes the bulb to burst and open. When the fusible element sprinkler is heated, the fusible element melts and falls off to open the sprinkler.
- By installation method and water spray shape: It includes upright sprinklers, pendent sprinklers, ordinary sprinklers, sidewall sprinklers and recessed sprinklers. Upright sprinklers are installed vertically, with most of the water sprayed downward and some sprayed onto the ceiling. Pendent sprinklers are installed hanging down, with more than 80% of the water sprayed downward. Ordinary sprinklers can be installed upright or hanging down, and the water spray shape is spherical. Sidewall sprinklers are installed against the wall, and the water spray shape is semi-parabolic. Recessed sprinklers are installed hidden in the ceiling.
- By operating temperature: It is divided into five types: orange for 57°C, red for 68°C, yellow for 79°C, green for 93°C and blue for 141°C.
