While in the run mode, pressing the DYN key calls up the dynamic adjustments of the parameter in control. The Proportional and Integral Gain dynamic adjustments are available under their respective keys (i.e. SPEED, CAS, AUX, & EXT/ADM).
The Derivative term adjustments are made in the Service Mode—(7-4 see volume 2). To adjust the gain settings, the @ symbol must be on the display line containing the asterisk/gain value to tune. The @ symbol is moved using the SELECT key. The ADJUST UP and DOWN keys can then be used to adjust the function on the line with the @ symbol. The Speed, Cascade, Auxiliary, and Extr/Adm controls are PID controllers. The response of each control loop can be adjusted by selecting the dynamics mode as described above. Proportional gain, integral gain (stability), and SDR (speed derivative ratio) are the adjustable and interacting parameters used to match the response of the control loop with the response of the system. They correspond to the P (proportional), I (integral), and D (derivative) terms, and are displayed by the 505E as follows: P = Proportional gain (%) I = Integral gain (%) D = Derivative (determined by SDR and I) NOTE If an older type 505E is being replaced by a new 505E, the “ P & D ” terms may be the same, however, the “ I ” term should be reduced by a factor of 10 from the old 505E’s reset value to achieve the same control response.
