Typical Structure of Decanter Centrifuge Drum The decanter centrifuge, often simply referred to as a 'decanter,' is primarily constructed from several key components: the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. The drum and screw rotate in unison at a specific differential speed, all moving in the same direction. Materials are continuously fed into the spiral inner cylinder via the feed pipe, where they are swiftly accelerated into the rotating drum. Under the influence of centrifugal force, heavier solid substances are compelled to settle on the drum's wall, forming a dense sediment layer. The screw persistently propels the sludge towards the end of the drum cone, ensuring its efficient discharge through the machine's exit point. The lighter liquid phase forms an inner liquid ring, which seamlessly overflows from the drum's big end through the overflow port, subsequently draining out of the machine via the drain port. This process achieves efficient two-phase liquid-solid separation or even more complex three-phase liquid-liquid-solid separation.
