Amazon's merchandising policy requires that all seasonal, holiday and other decorative lights be certified to the UL588 standard.
Amazon defines decorative light strings as portable, plug-connected lighting goods and accessories with a maximum rated input of 120 volts for temporary use. To sell such goods on Amazon, you must apply and submit the following information to electronics.
1. Your company name and seller number
2. Your contact information (email address and phone number)
3. A list of ASins that you are applying to sell
4. Documentation showing that all decorative lights and related goods you apply to sell comply with UL588
5. Product picture of the plug
By applying to sell such goods, you acknowledge that all the information you have submitted in connection with your application is true and accurate. Please note that if you do not meet these requirements, Amazon may revoke your rights to sell.
Amazon must meet the requirements of UL588 certification for the lamp string class. It must meet the following three requirements:
1, UL 588 section 6 minimum wire diameter size requirements
2. Tensile test requirements in sections SB15 of UL 588
3. Overcurrent protection requirements in section 7 of UL 588
UL588/UL1598/UL153/1573 Reporting process:
1. Fill out the application form.
2. Provide product information, make payment,
3. Send samples.
4. Test OK,
5. Report.
