| Choose Diamond or CBN grinding wheel? | ||
| Diamond grinding wheel description: Diamond grinding wheel is the best abrasive tools for grinding hard alloy, ceramics, Optical glass, gem and other stones, etc. Diamond grinding wheel with high hardness and brittleness. The diamond is easy to carbonization at 700 C ~800 C, So it is not suitable for grinding steel which contains a lot of iron element. CBN grinding wheel description: CBN hardness is slightly lower than diamond, But due to its thermal stability is good (1300 degrees ~1400, high temperature) So it is not suitable for grinding steel. CBN's thermal conductivity is around 46 times of corundum. It has much longer service life than corundum grinding wheels. So CBN is the best abrasive tools for grinding high hardness and toughness metal material like Hardened steel, bearing steel, high-speed tool steel, stainless steel, heat resistant steel and titanium alloy. |
| What grain size shall you choose? | ||
| For Diamond or CBN grinding wheel,150# is a medium rough grain size which can meet the needs of most usages of you have no special requirement, if you want to grind faster, choose a rougher grit, but it the surfacing result will be rougher at the same time, how to achieve the goal faster grinding and finer grit, choose two or three grit as a group, use rough grit grind first, then finer grit. |
| 3 points for storage of grinding wheels | ||
Safety should be the utmost priority while doing any kind of work like: storing grinding wheels. These are to be handled with care because bending and dropping can be a big problem. For this, one needs to follow few rules In case causing any problems. The below-mentioned steps are to be followed: 1. Find a dry and spacious place for storing these wheels. The place should be highly ventilated and the temperature should be in the range of 10 and 30 degrees, mind it! Both humidity and freezing water can lessen the density of grinding wheels and cause a great damage. It should also be kept in mind that the temperature in the storage area should not be less than 4 degrees. 2. The grinding wheels should be stored on a straw mattress or a soft surface for their safety. Arrange the wheels column wise if there is a large number of wheels. Keep the small grinding wheels on the top shelves while keeping the heavier ones on the bottom. The height should not be an issue while arranging the wheels on the bottom shelf. The cutoff wheels should be placed in flat position because an upright or erected position can lead to distortion of the wheel. 3. Find the best suitable place for the storage that will not be a problem in the later days. It should be arranged in such a manner that you do not need to rearrange them time and again. The best way is to keep the heavier grinding wheels in the warehouse while placing the opposite ones that is, smaller ones and the ones you need almost every day on the shelf. It will be easier to take these out. |
