ABB recommends a minimum cable gauge of 0.2 mm2 with a capacitance of 40-80 pF/m within an industrial environment. For an office environment, ABB recommends a minimum cable of 0.14 mm, and a capacitance of 40-100 pF/m. Use a shielded cable in a heavy industrial environment and an unshielded cable in an office environment. A shielded cable is often given a higher capacitance and will therefore provide a higher data transmission speed.
