The pug mill is a device used for processing and refining mud/porcelain clay. It is mainly through extrusion, stirring and other ways to make the clay more uniform and delicate, improve the quality and plasticity of the clay.
The pug mill is usually composed of feed port, extrusion device, stirring device, discharge port and other parts. It is widely used in ceramics, tiles and other industries, which can improve production efficiency and product quality.
The followed is the new model in 2024, it has smaller size and more compact structure with high performance.
Applications This laboratory used pottery pug mill/ porcelain clay extruder is used for refining/reclaiming white body pottery/ ceramics, electric ceramic mud and extruding tiles. It is suitable for extruding mud/clay with a moisture content of 19%-23%. Widely used in daily ceramics, electric porcelain, building materials, tile making, refractory materials, chemical materials and other industries.
For such a compact desktop pugmill, the clay processed by it is shown in the picture below.
Structure 1) Transmission part:
The pug mill includes the motor, speed reducer, chain, etc.;
2) Feeding port, pressing device and stainless steel storage table:
3) Clay mixing part (first stage):
It adopts horizontal double shafts feeding design structure.
The main components are two pieces of discontinuous propeller blades.
The function is to crush, mix and convey the clay.
4) Vacuum chamber and auxiliary parts:
Pug mill includes the vacuum pump, shock-proof vacuum gauge, water vapor absorption bottle, etc.
Note: The mud itself will form a seal against the vacuum chamber. If the vacuum chamber is full, it must be cleaned in time.
5) Clay extrusion part (second stage):
The vacuum degassed clay is conveyed and extruded to eliminate the spiral structure and finally sent out the extrusion port (it also forms a seal to the vacuum chamber).
The main components are: the helical structure of the continuous blade.

Other relative products Our pottery pug mill/clay extruder mixer has de-airing model and de-airing model.
For de-airing model,it has 4 types with wedging and extruding capacity from 300kg to 800kgs/h.Also,considering the cleaning question,two types pug mills have an barrel made of aluminum.It can be fast open and cleaned through loosening 6 pcs of bolts.(Notes,this aluminum barrel can not be used for clay that contains soda spars).
