Description
SDCAD Lump Breaker consists of a square cross section casing with upper and lower flange, two horizontal rotating shafts equipped with chopping knives, a grid to hold back lumps, four end bearing assemblies with integrated adjustable shaft seal, an appropriately sized drive unit complete with power transmission.
Function
SDCAD Lump Breaker is the ideal device for breaking up material lumps which have formed during handling or processing but are soft enough to be broken up. Quick rotation of special chopping knives through a fixed grid does the job. The presence of two rotor shafts results in high through put rates. Installation attention
The Lump Breaker body is fitted with two flanges; the upper one will be used for connecting it to a container (hopper, silo, etc.) or to a loading system (screw feeder, conveyor belt, etc.), while the lower one is meant for connecting the machine to a conveying duct or directly to a transport system below. In applications where the machine is installed at the base of a hopper, it is advisable to provide a fixed safety grid and a cover on the top. Ducts and machines connected to the DLP must be sturdy enough to withstand the weight and vibrations that may be generated during operation. Level the machine on all planes so that the rotors are perfectly horizontal to prevent improper connection with a hopper or with machines connected to it. Before completing anchoring operetion, fit seals or sealants be tween the machine flanges and the other machinery to prevent leakage of product.
Notes on use
The Lump Breaker can be used in two ways: - when the product is particularly crumbly and the particle size is not really significant, it is advisable to use the machine without the contrast grid. The lumps are broken up by the effect of the impact of the product on the rotating paddle wheels and by the speed transmitted by these to the material thrown up against the machine walls. - when the product is particularly hard and compact and the particle size has to be checked, use the lump breaker with the grid.In the latter case, the product that is not in the form of lumps will pass through the grid while the lumps that are larger than the mesh size are held back and are broken up by the rotating blades.
In both cases, crushing and must be done on the product in motion.
