Chiller condenser/heat exchanger tubes are often suffering from fouling and scaling, resulting the ineffective cooling production and high energy consumption of the system, Therefore, the system owner has to pay extra cost for cleaning and maintenance.
The fouling in the condenser tube is a poor heat conductor. Compared with the good heat conduction of the copper tube, Fouling and scaling's conductivity are 300 times less; when the fouling built-up to be 1 mm, the heat transfer efficiency is reduced by 40%, and the additional power consumption is increased over 30% which caused by the extra work from the compressor.
