If a diamond wheel is to grind PCD it must be kept ‘open’ byfrequent dressing. This exposes new sharp diamond and keeps the wheel cuttingfreely. A dull wheel can soon start to vibrate or ‘chatter’ especially if themachine is not rigid. Wheel, machine and PCD all interact. Soft wheels willgrind easily but then the life will be low. A hard wheel may not suit yourmachine. A few experiments are needed.
